Wilderness Festival is one of our favourite events of the year. Set in the stunning grounds of Cornbury Park in Oxfordshire, Wilderness is a four day festival that mixes music, live performances, wellbeing activities, and food across the park. Set amongst beautful woodlands, rolling hills, and lakeside there’s always lots to do at the festival. Activities at the lake feature wild swimming, spa and wellness activities and a boating lake.
Wilderness is known for some impressive lineups in the past including Bastille, Nile Rogers, Two Door Cinema Club, London Grammar, Groova Armada and Sophile Ellis Baxter to name a few. Our lifeguard team will be based around the serene lakes area of the site, providing lifeguard cover across several attractions. Your role may include:

As this is a festival, you’ll be camping in the staff campsite area of the site. Usually, we try to camp together in the same area of the campsite for a better porfessional and social experience.

We will also cover travel expenses to and from the event – these should be submitted to us after the event. We will also provide additional PPE including buoyancy aids, high-vis tabards and heavy duty waterproofs.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided to all volunteers.

What qualifications do I need?
Lifeguards – We are looking for qualifed RLSS Open-water lifeguards. However, we may consider RLSS NPLQ qualified lifeguards who would be happy to undertake additional training to become an Open water lifeguard.
Safety boat helm – You must hold a RYA Powerboat Level II qualification.
Welfare – Members of our welfare team do not need to hold any particular qualificaiton.
Do you offer any training?
We run an induction when on site, as well as a training session before the public enter the arena. This gives us time to perform any training (which counts towards continued professional development), renewals and briefings ahead of the main event. If you have an NPLQ, we can likely offer you a bolt-on qualification to become an open water lifeguard also

Will I still get to enjoy the festival?
Yes! Shifts are planned to allow plenty of time to explore the festival and relax when you’re not on duty. You’ll also have the evening’s to explore the festival.
Is this suitable for solo volunteers?
Absolutely. Many volunteers come on their own and quickly become part of the team.
What if I’m not available for the entire event?
Whilst we prioritse volunteers who will be able to cover the whole event, we often have members of the team who join later or leave earlier. Please add any potential details of this to the notes section of the signup form. If things change later, you can always get in touch with us closer to the event.
How do I apply or ask questions – How does it work?

Some time before the event, we’ll email you any doucments and accreditation details for the event. There may be a virtual briefing meeting so you can meet the team and ask any questions.
