Henley Royal Regatta Qualifiers 2026

Event description

One of the most important and historic rowing events on the calendar is the Henley Royal Regatta. This event is absolutely remarkable, drawing competitors and spectators from all over the world. The event is taking place at Henley-on-Thames on the River Thames, which is an incredible setting. There are two parts to this event: qualifying and the main Regatta. In order to advance to the main regatta, athletes must record an individual time during qualifying, which is held on Friday, June 26th. The main regatta follows from Tuesday the 30th of June until Sunday the 5th of July and further details regarding this can be found on the Henley Royal Regatta listing on our events page.

Colwick Park Lifeguards (CPL) deploy several safety boats throughout the course  to provide water safety and rescue services to the competitors during qualifying. We collaborate with the Henley Royal Regatta event organisers in order to ensure every competitor’s safety.

Due to the size of the operation, we are seeking motivated and dedicated volunteers to join our team. Volunteers with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Power Boat Level 2 or Safety Boat qualification, or the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) Open Water Lifeguard qualification (OWL), are sought after.

All appropriate paperwork, safety plans, inductions, and briefings will be given to volunteers prior to the event so they may fulfil their duties. You will receive a comprehensive site induction and training upon your arrival at the event. You will never be asked to perform a task for which you lack the necessary training and qualifications. An experienced team member will mentor our new volunteers, providing you the chance to pick up new skills and acquire valuable knowledge.

In order to guarantee our volunteers’ comfort, safety, and well-being, we are providing hotel accommodations in the local area on Friday night. There will be lunch, dinner, and all of the equipment you need for performing your role. So, what are you waiting for? Check out our FAQs below, then fill out the form at the bottom of this page to register. After that, a member of our management team will get in touch with you to go over the next steps in your volunteer application.
