Annual Dinner & AGM 2026

Danielle Tompkins Sun 01st Mar 2026

Last weekend, Colwick Park Lifeguards hosted our Annual Dinner, a celebratory tradition that has been running for over a decade. This year, we had a three-course meal and an awards presentation at Cosy Club in Nottingham; 20 people attended, comprising of a mixture of long-standing and new members. It was a remarkable evening, with lots to celebrate. We presented 4 awards: The Rusty Bucket, Wally of the Year, The Chairman’s Shield, and The Colwick Commendation Award.

Jack Parkinson was awarded The Rusty Bucket, and Matt Tompkins won Wally of the Year. The Colwick Commendation Award was awarded to James Kirk, for performing a successful rescue at Wilderness, which involved getting into the water (with his hiking boots on) to assist a struggling swimmer. Finally, Julie Matthews was awarded The Chairman’s Shield, for her incredible kindness and contribution to Colwick Park Lifeguards, and for always going above and beyond to make people feel welcome and included. You can view the photos from the weekend at the end of this article.

We also held our Annual General Meeting on Sunday 22nd February – special thanks to Claire, who single-handedly prepared all the sandwiches for the meeting. New positions/roles of the Colwick Management Committee are listed below.

We want to thank all of our volunteers for the hours they contributed to Colwick last year, and for their amazing work. Our volunteers are integral to providing water safety to events across the UK and it does not go unrecognised.

We have a lot of exciting events coming up this year, such as Henley Royal Regatta, Nottingham City & Masters and Wilderness Festival, and potentially a few more to be confirmed…

Roll on 2026!

As a result of the vandalism, two of our boats suffered damage to their hulls, engines and electrical components. In effect, these boats were no longer in a state […]
