Nottingham City Regatta weekend (9th & 10th May) is a combination of the annual Nottingham City Regatta and Nottingham Masters and Club Regatta held over one weekend at the National Water Sports Centre (NWSC) Nottingham. The event takes place on the regatta lake at the NWSC stretching across 2km of water. We work with the event organisers to provide a full water safety and rescue service with multiple safety boats crewed by highly skilled helms and lifeguards.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team at this year’s event. It’s a great chance to get involved in a major rowing event, support the competitors, and spend the weekend on the w/ater with a friendly crew.
Volunteers can signup for just a single day or the whole weekend. Individuals with an RLSS OWL (Open water lifeguard) qualification, RYA Powerboat level 2, or RYA safety boat are required to take part. As part of the safety team, you’ll play a vital role in keeping competitors safe on the water and ensuring the event runs smoothly. Volunteers assist with launching and recovering safety boats, monitoring crews during races, and responding to any incidents along the course. We will be providing several safety boats stationed at several different points along the course. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Before the event, you will be provided with all the necessary documentation and plans you’ll need to perform your role. On the day of the event, you will attend a briefing with our event manager where additional information will be provided and any questions you may have will be answered. We’ll provde a full schedule of the days racing for you.
For our new volunteers you will never be asked to do anything you aren’t qualified or trained to carry out. Full induction training will be provided and you will be assigned to an experienced member of the team.
We’ll provide a range of our own buoyancy aids, lifesaving equipment for our boats, and wet weather gear in the event of bad wether.
