The Head of the Trent is an annual rowing event that takes place on the River Trent in Nottingham. Competitors take part in time trials over a long stretch of the river. We work with the event organisers to provide several safety boats to keep competitors safe.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team at this year’s event. It’s a great chance to get involved in a major rowing event, support the competitors, and spend a day on the water with a friendly crew. Individuals with an RLSS OWL (Open water lifeguard) qualificaiton, RYA Powerboat level 2, or RYA safety boat are required to take part. As part of the safety team, you’ll play a vital role in keeping competitors safe on the water and ensuring the event runs smoothly. Volunteers assist with launching and recovering safety boats, monitoring crews during races, and responding to any incidents along the course. We will be providing several safety boats stationed at several different points along the course. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Before the event, you will be provided with all the necessary documentation and plans you’ll need to perform your role. On the day of the event, you will attend a briefing with our event manager where additional information will be provided and any questions you may have will be answered.
Warm/Waterproof clothing:
We’ll provide a range of our own wet weather gear, buoyancy aids and lifesaving equipment for our boats.
